Meara is a community leader and outdoor enthusiast with more than 20 years of non-profit management experience focusing on outdoor recreation advocacy, community planning, stewardship, conservation, sustainability, and education. Proven budget management and fundraising strategies of countywide trails organization – supporting the promotion of sustainable trail- based initiatives among diverse recreation user groups, landowners, and land 
management agencies.

Understanding the Community

With a wealth of experience from living in various mountain communities, Meara is driven to enhance collaboration and transparency in Grand County. Through her extensive professional network in healthcare, education, and recreation nonprofits, including her leadership role at the Headwaters Trails Alliance, she has fostered deep connections across the county. With the role of Commissioner, she aims to extend her 25 years of passionate advocacy for the environment, people, and rural mountain heritage. Her expertise in stakeholder engagement, honed during graduate studies, equips her to effectively represent constituents and address their concerns for the county's future.

Instilling Passion, Adventure, and Community

Meara is a devoted mother of three: her eldest daughter, Sage (21), is graduating pre-med from Cornell University; her son Asher (18) is an accomplished freestyle skier on the US Ski Team, completing his high school education at Middle Park High School; and her youngest daughter, Mesa (10), attends fourth grade at Fraser Valley Elementary School. Married to local business owner (restauranteur) Tim Hubbard, Meara's commitment to community is palpable. From bolstering rural health initiatives to fostering educational growth, and from promoting outdoor recreation to championing sustainable tourism, her influence spans wide. Politically, she stands firmly aligned with the Democratic party, passionately advocating for issues of livability and sustainability in Grand County.

Generations in the Area

Meara’s great grandparents homesteaded across the Continental Divide in Estes Park in the1930s and she was lucky enough to spend her childhood summers in Colorado until she was old enough to move here and make Colorado home. Rocky Mountain National Park cultivated Meara’s love of the mountains inspired her interests in mountain ecology and stewardship. Meara has also taught natural science in the classroom and out in the field.
